New Life and Lasting Memories This Easter at Darcy House

This Easter season, Darcy House was alive with new life, colour and creativity as our residents took part in a range of uplifting and engaging activities designed to celebrate spring and all the joy it brings. From the gentle chirps of baby chicks to the rustle of ribbon on handmade Easter bonnets, our home was full of smiles, stories and a shared sense of community.

One of the most special highlights of the season was the successful hatching of Silkie chickens, which took place right in our main living room. Residents and guests alike were watching in awe as the tiny chicks emerged and took their first steps. The chicks remained with us for a few weeks, allowing everyone the chance to get involved in their care – feeding them, holding them gently and ensuring they always had fresh water. For many residents, this brought back fond memories of childhood pets or time spent on family farms. The experience created a real sense of purpose and routine, with the Chicks becoming a much-loved part of daily life at Darcy House.

We also got stuck into some classic Easter crafts, with residents sitting in our cosy café area to design and create their own Easter bonnets. With colourful trims, fresh ideas and plenty of laughter, it was a wonderful activity for building connections, sparking creativity and encouraging gentle conversation among friends old and new.

Out in the garden, we made the most of the brighter weather by planting seeds and flowers in both the greenhouse and our raised planters. Many residents shared stories of their own allotments or gardens from years gone by and took great pride in seeing the outdoor areas of Darcy House beginning to bloom again. It's been a real team effort, and the garden is already looking fantastic, thanks to the care and attention given by everyone involved.
