Darcy House Recognised for Excellence in Dementia Training
We are delighted to have received the Outstanding Dementia Training Award from Training 2 Care. This recognition reflects our commitment at Darcy House to continually develop the knowledge and compassion of our team, so that every person living with dementia feels valued and supported.

Putting Our Residents First
At Darcy House, we believe exceptional dementia care begins with seeing the person behind the condition. Every resident has their own life story, routines, preferences and relationships that matter to them, and these are central to how we provide care and support.
Through ongoing learning, our dedicated team is encouraged to build a deeper understanding of dementia and to use that knowledge in everyday interactions. Training 2 Care’s Dementia Interpreters programme is designed to help care professionals improve communication and recognise that a person’s behaviour may be communicating an unmet need.
Investing in Our Team
Alongside specialist dementia training delivered by Training 2 Care, we work with Clinical Care Academy, Strategic Thinking e-Learning and Deena Heaney MBE. This broad approach helps our team continue developing the practical skills, insight and confidence needed to provide thoughtful, person-centred care.
The award is a wonderful acknowledgement of the dedication our team shows every day. Their commitment to learning and improving helps us ensure that residents living with dementia receive care that respects their individuality and promotes quality of life.
Dementia-Friendly Spaces at Darcy House
As well as investing in specialist dementia training, we are committed to creating a physical environment that supports residents to feel comfortable and at home. Our dedicated dementia and sensory spaces have been thoughtfully designed with guidance from an experienced interior designer, whose research helped shape every aspect of the environment around the needs of people living with dementia.
Clear, easy-to-read signage, larger fonts, strong colour contrast and familiar images are used to support orientation and independence. Where appropriate, residents’ room signs can include photographs as well as names, helping to make spaces more recognisable and personal.
Our sensory rooms and equipment offer opportunities for calming stimulation and meaningful interaction, while quieter areas allow residents to relax in a reassuring setting. By combining specialist staff knowledge with a thoughtfully designed environment, we aim to make everyday life at Darcy House feel familiar and centred around each individual.
