At Darcy House, our Sensory Room is a space within our home designed to enlighten the senses of all of our residents especially those living with conditions such as Dementia, Cerebral Palsy, Sensory Impairment, Visual Impairment or Hearing Impairment. Our room has been designed to include and display multicoloured lights within the dark room, tactile objects and special sounds. Sensory Rooms are there to help develop communication skills, improve focus and provide a calming effect on each resident.
Whilst our Music Room has a variety of instruments available to our residents, from guitars, keyboards, a saxophone and more. This room has been designed to encourage residents to pick up past hobbies or learn something new, in individual or group music sessions. Supporting our residents with Music Therapy not only ensures a happy and healthy environment but can encourage residents to reminisce through music from their past.
