At our care home in Matlock, we offer exceptional levels of Residential Care, Nursing Care, Dementia Care and Respite Care for up to 78 residents. Our Respite Care is like hitting the pause button on the worries of life whenever you need it, whether it is for a few weeks or a couple of months. We have a dedicated and friendly team who provide around-the-clock support to ensure residents continue to live a rich and meaningful life by filling each day with the things they enjoy most.

Our Respite Care is the perfect solution for individuals who have recently experienced a fall of hospital stay and need support before returning to their usual routine, or if a primary carer requires a short-term break from their caregiving duties. Loved ones of our residents can rest assured that their needs aren’t just being met, they are being exceeded. A minimum stay of 3 weeks is required for our respite care so residents can take the time to make our home their own, and fully reap the benefits that it brings.

Understanding Respite Care

Respite care differs from most other care services offered within a care home, as it is a short-term service. Depending on the individual, they can last anywhere between a few weeks to a couple of months. At Darcy House, we can cater for those who have both pre-planned and unplanned stays, depending on the circumstances.

Our service is ideal for those who have recently experienced a fall, operation or have had a hospital stay, as they can relieve all of their stress whilst our team provide 24-hour care to prepare them for getting back into their routine. It is also suitable for when the primary carers require a break and are looking for somewhere they can trust to take over short-term. No matter what their individual needs entail, our team are dedicated to providing unrivalled levels of care until they feel ready to move home.

Our Approach at Darcy House Care Home

We adopt a person-centred approach to care at Darcy House, meaning we don’t just prioritise our residents’ personal or medical needs, we also strive to enhance their overall health and well-being. Whilst residing with us, those receiving respite care have unlimited access to our facilities including an in-house cafe, private gardens and hair salon & treatment room.

Similarly to all of our care services, we work closely with the resident and their loved ones to conduct a pre-admission evaluation and create a tailored care plan that will follow them on their journey and be adapted should their needs change. Darcy House is an all-inclusive care home so all of our residents have unlimited access to our facilities, and that includes those receiving respite care! Residents who require respite care are also provided with a private en-suite bedroom, regular meals and refreshments, opportunities to participate in activities and entertainment and 24-hour assistance.

Our respite care services are tailored to those who have recently experienced a fall, operation or hospital stay and need support until they feel like themselves again. Additionally, if a carer needs a short-term break to tend to their own needs before returning to their caregiving duties, respite care is the ideal solution. We also offer it as a trial period to residents who want to assess their compatibility with our home before moving in long-term.

Each length of stay is dependent on the individual and their specific needs, but we have a minimum period of 3 weeks to ensure residents can properly settle in and reap the benefits our respite care services can bring.
