COVID-19

At Darcy House, the health of our residents is our utmost priority, and we are dedicated to ensuring everyone remains as safe as possible from the risks of COVID-19. We continue to closely follow guidance and legislation issued by the Government and key sector bodies, and our commitment extends to keeping our residents, their families, and our staff well-informed at all times.

Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, we have diligently worked to implement robust policies and procedures that offer a high level of reassurance for all residents and visitors to the home. Our goal is to create a secure environment where everyone can feel confident about their health and wellbeing.

Our COVID-19 Approach

Care homes in England can make risk-based decisions as to whether face masks are required to be worn. Following a risk assessment, our care home has made the decision to remove the universal wearing of masks. It is a personal choice whether visitors still wish to wear a mask and people receiving care can ask staff to wear face masks; our staff will continue to work in whichever way makes our residents most comfortable.

We continue to no longer have restrictions as to the number of visits per resident though we ask that you make arrangements in advance of your visit to ensure safe visiting practices can be maintained.

At any time, the decision to not wear face masks can be changed as determined by the Home Manager, company, local or national healthcare agencies. COVID-19 regulations and guidance from the Government, National, and Local Healthcare Agencies may also change. For further information, please click here or contact the Home Manager directly.

Ensuring Safety for All

At Darcy House, the well-being of everyone is our top priority. Inside our care home, we provide PPE and sanitation products for all, contributing to a safer environment and reducing the risk of contamination.

We are committed to adhering to official advice and guidance from the Government, the Department of Health, and the local NHS Trust. Our staff diligently follow the infection prevention and control measures we have implemented, emphasising the importance of keeping vaccinations up to date for everyone in our home. In the unfortunate event of cases arising within our home, we have a robust system in place to record incidents and take swift and appropriate action to contain them effectively.

At Darcy House, we are committed to ensuring that residents remain closely connected with their family and friends. We actively support and encourage residents to partake in day trips and overnight stays, for which we conduct thorough risk assessments, including respiratory screening questions upon their return. Currently, there is no mandatory testing and isolation for residents leaving temporarily, but, for everyone’s safety, we strongly encourage vaccination for day trips and overnight stays.

In situations where isolation within the home becomes necessary, we equip residents with devices for video calls, fostering continuous communication with their loved ones. Recognising the impact on mental wellbeing, we understand the importance of staying connected.
